At the end of the Second Age, the great King Elendil led the men of Númenor against the Dark Lord Sauron. At his side was Gil-galad, the High King of the Elves, and his greatest ally. Over many years they retook the lands that once belonged to Men and Elves and pushed back the ravening hordes of Mordor. When the Dark Lord finally struck back, his first blow fell against Gondor. Thus began the wars of the Last Alliance, when Men and Elves fought as one against the darkness of Mordor.
